PRESENT PROGRESSIVE TENSE

Present progressive and Present continuous tense both are same it is used to express a running or ongoing action at present time. It expresses an action which is in progress at the time of speaking. And also it is used for a future plan which we plan.

There are some variations in present progressive/Continuous tense which are explained below and for present continuous passive voice tense.

1st VariationHelping Verb = Is / Am / Are

Middle Of An Action

When we are in Middle Of An Action.

Formula

Formula: Formula: Subject + Helping Verb + Verb(ing) + Object

  • I am giving a lecture.
  • Ali is sleeping.
  • We are taking the class.

Note: For Negative Sentences, we simply add Not after the verb.

  • Negative: She is not cooking food.
  • Interrogative: Is she cooking food?
  • Neg. Int: Is she not cooking food?
