It talks about those actions which started in the past and also ended in past. The time of action is not specified in terms of a long time ago or short ago. And we use the helping verb of past simple passive voice tense (was, were) and for Past simple active voice tense.
Finished Action
An action started in the past and finished in the past.
Formula: Object + Helping Verb + Verb 3rd(form)
- A lecture was given.
- Questions were asked.
- A Gift was given by her.
Formula: Object + Helping Verb(Was/ Were) + Verb 3rd(form) + by + Object(subject of Active Voice)
